Yet another reminder why the Washington football team should change their name. Fast-food chain Sonic is in hot water after a location in Belton, Mo. posted an offensive sign in anticipation of Washington’s matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The sign, which was promptly taken down fifteen minutes after it was put up, said “KC Chiefs Will Scalp The [Washington Football Team] Feed Them Whiskey Send 2 Reservation.”
Of course, in this day and age, nothing is temporary, and although it was only up for fifteen minutes, that was plenty of time for some people to snap pictures and post them on Twitter.

Sonic has since apologized via the social media site.
@halversonkm @DelSchilling It is a terrible mistake that both the owner and the brand are very sorry for. Hurtful message should never post

Sonic’s vice president of public relations released a statement on behalf of the restaurant’s owner, saying that “his passion for his hometown football team and a reputation for creative remarks on his message board resulted in a lapse in judgment and he regrets allowing the remarks to be posted. … The owner has reinforced with his employees the boundaries of what is acceptable and unacceptable.” The Star also reports that the restaurant’s manager apologized publicly, saying “It was inexcusable, offensive and wrong.”
