In the face of one upon two inches of snow, the federal and District governments are closed today. That’s why you’re probably still tucked into bed and not reading this.
Also closed are many school systems around the region, including D.C. public schools. Don’t try to take the kids to the National Zoo today, because that’s also not open. The Smithsonians, however, are still accepting visitors.
The National Weather Service downgraded its winter storm warning to a winter weather advisory this morning, which will remain in effect until 2 p.m. today, with the snow predicted to stop by early afternoon. NWS is calling for accumulations between one and three inches, while Accuweather is predicting an average of four inches.
Now is the time when you decide to make fun of D.C. for its reaction to snow, defend the city or go back to bed. I recommend that last one.**

**Again, unless you’re at work. Our sympathies.
