MOVIE: Best Christmas movie ever Die Hard will screen at midnight at E Street Cinema (555 11th Street NW). Tickets $9.

LIGHTS: Georgetown’s Fete des Lumieres begins tonight with a party at Malmaison (3401 K Street NW). “Learn more about the festival, meet featured international artists, enjoy musical performances and video installations by their local counterparts.” Tickets $10. Lights along Thomas Jefferson Street and the Washington Harbour nightly until December 20. 6 to 10 p.m.

SATURDAY

HO OH BOY: People dressed in Santa suits will descend upon the National Mall this weekend for Santarchy. Participants must dress in full Santa suits, be jolly and shouldn’t get arrested. Interested? Meet at 1 p.m. at the Natural History Museum (1012 Madison Drive NW).

DRUNK SANTA: Or perhaps you’d rather just get drunk? The D.C. Santa Crawl will run from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. with drink specials offered at different spots around the city. $15 online, $20 at the door.

VARIETY: The Capital City Showcase gets into the holiday spirit (all the holiday spirits) with their Christmahanukwanzakah show at the DC Arts Center (2438 18th Street NW) this Saturday. The event will feature comedians Andrew Bucket, Jamel Johnson, Matty Litwack, Reggie Melbrough, and Romate Walters, as well as musician Linsay Deming and rock band The Army of The Potomac. All proceeds will be donated to the DC Central Kitchen. 10 p.m. $15 online, $20 at the door. —Elisabeth Grant

HOUSE OF COOKIES: RIS (2275 L Street NW) will host a gingerbread house workshop. “RIS will provide all the tools and materials needed, and will display completed houses through the end of the year should the builder not want to take it home. Guests will sample the latest holiday treats from new Pastry Chef Beverly Bates while making the perfect gingerbread masterpiece.” Noon to 2 p.m. $20 donation for adults, $10 for children. SANTA CLAWS: There are three opportunities to have your pet’s photo taken with Santa on Saturday. Rural Dog Rescue will host its holiday celebration day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Howl to the Chief (733 8th Street SE). The $15 price of a photo with Santa will go to the rescue. The Washington Hilton (1919 Connecticut Avenue NW) hosts a Washington Humane Socity event from 1 to 4 p.m. A donation of $20 is requested. Lucky Dog Rescue will hold its holiday celebration at Wagtime Too (900 M Street SE) from 6 to 9 p.m. Photo opportunities are available with both Santa and Harry Hanukkah. A $10 donation will be taken at the door.

SUNDAY

MOVIES: The Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike) will host a Christmas movie festival. Films include How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Elf, A Christmas Story and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. $8 for the whole day. Begins at noon.

MORE SANTA TIME: Metro Mutts (508 H Street NE) hosts a WHS event from 1 to 4 p.m.

JAZZ: DCist was honored to be present when NEA Jazz Master Benny Golson celebrated his 80th birthday at the Kennedy Center. Now 84-years old, the saxophone legend and composer of standards like “Killer Joe” and “Stablemates” is still going strong. Golson’s band will be performing 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets on Friday and Saturday with 7 and 9 p.m. sets on Sunday at Bohemian Caverns. Tickets $35 online/$40 at the door. —Sriram Gopal
