A D.C. police officer accused of running a teen prostitution ring out of his apartment will remain in jail until his next hearing in January.

As the Post, NBC4 and AP report, a D.C. Superior Court judge said that Linwood Barnhill is a “rogue cop” and flight risk. Barnhill, hired to the Metropolitan Police Department in 1989, was arrested last week on pandering charges after a missing 16-year-old girl was found in his apartment. Two teen girls have accused Barnhill, who has been on inactive duty for the past 15 months, of prostituting them. More from the Post:

One officer, Jeffrey Williams of M.P.D.’s internal affairs division, testified his office first investigated Barnhill for operating a prostitution ring out of his apartment in 2011 after they received an anonymous phone call. The caller also told officers Barnhill was smoking marijuana. Barnhill was arrested last week. He has been charged with two counts of pandering a minor for the purpose of prostitution.

Williams said his department investigated the allegations, including police surveillance, but never found any evidence. Williams also testified Barnhill at the time testified negative for drug use.

Barnhill will remain in jail until his next hearing on January 28.
