A woman was killed by an SUV yesterday as she was walking her dog in Southwest D.C.
The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. at 7th and G streets SW, near the parking garage entrance of the Town Square Towers, according to a Metropolitan Police Department public information officer. The woman, not identified by police, was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced. The driver remained on the scene and was cooperative, according to the PIO.
According to the Waterfront Gateway, the woman was an elderly resident of the Town Square Towers. Police say the dog was not injured.
Update: The victim has been identified by police as 90 year-old Frances Margaret Parsons, a former Gallaudet University professor who was deaf. Read about her here. The driver of the vehicle was exiting the parking garage when he or she struck Parsons on the access ramp.
