Photo by Aperturef64.FILM: If you’re sick of the same old Christmas movies playing on a constant loop (except for Die Hard, because who can ever get sick of that), I’ve got a treat for you. White Reindeer a new pitch-black Christmas time movie is screening at the AFI Silver Theater tonight. Here’s a brief rundown of the film: A young woman’s life is thrown completely upside down when her husband is murder just a month before Christmas. No, I swear, it’s a comedy (of sorts). Anyway, you can read my full review here. Added bonus: The movie was filmed in and around Northern Virginia and D.C. Another bonus: Director Zach Clark and cinematographer Daryl Pittman will be doing a post-screening q+a after the screening tonight. Screening starts at 9:20 p.m. Get your tickets here.
MUSIC: Local hard rock/blues rock outfit Clutch are playing a homecoming show at 9:30 Club tonight along with Into Another, Mike Dillon Band, and Mike Westcott. Tickets are $29 and doors open at 6:30 p.m. It’s sold out, but you can probably snag a ticket from Craigslist or StubHub if you’re dying to go.
HAPPY HOUR: Vinoteca Wine Bar & Bistro on 11th Street is hosting an all-night happy tonight. From 5 p.m. to close, you can get sloshed on $5 wines (20 different varieties to choose from), $5 Peroni drafts, and an array of discounted small plates. Vinoteca is located at 1940 11th St. NW.
KARAOKE: Now that holiday family time is over, let loose by belting out your favorite jams at Sticky Rice’s karaoke night. The list opens at 10 p.m., but you can start drinking well before that so you’ll be in the mindset that you sing “Born to Run” better than the boss himself. At least, that’s what I believe whenever I do karaoke after a solid two hours of drinking beforehand. Sticky Rice is located at 1224 H St. NE.
