In the trailer for I Stole Your Bike, a unseen figure laughs as he recalls stealing bikes to turn a profit.
Southern Maryland brothers Christian, Stephon and Joshua White say they followed this prolific bike thief around Washington, D.C. and filmed his actions for a documentary. Here’s a description of their film.
I Stole Your Bike follows the frantic day to day life of a bike thief.
Always on the move, thieves are able to capitalize on the black market. I Stole Your Bike takes a look into the seedy street life of a bicycle thief. Though his true name and identity be unknown, his story will be told in the film.Shot on location in Washington D.C., I Stole Your Bike reveals the human side of the crime. It asks why this is happening, and how to stop it. The documentary will reveal how to 100% secure your bike from future bike thieves.
The documentary may also have another effect: Locating stolen bikes. A Road Bike Review member claims that one of the bikes in the trailer belongs to him or her. But while it may be easy to identify a stolen bike, getting is back seems virtually impossible.
Christian and Stephon White told Fox5 they hope to finish the documentary by spring and submit it to festivals.
