A D.C. woman has been charged with attacking a pregnant woman in Takoma Park with a tiki torch.

As WJLA reports, 46-year-old Katherlan Johnson allegedly attacked the woman, who is seven months pregnant, and stabbed a man on New Year’s Day.

Authorities say that Johnson pushed and air conditioning unit out of a window to gain entry to the home, then confronted the female victim.

Takoma Park Police say that Johnson then grabbed a broken tiki torch and began hitting the woman in the stomach. When another man in the home intervened, Johnson allegedly stabbed him. She then fled in a taxicab.

The pregnant woman was treated at the scene, the Post reports, while the man underwent surgery and is doing well. Johnson was charged with “first degree burglary, assault second degree, reckless endangerment, and malicious destruction of property less than $1,000.”
