ART: Tonight there will be an opening reception for local artist Edward Bear Miller’s newest batch of oil paintings at the Foundry Gallery (1314 18th Street NW). Employing a realist style, with brushes of more experimental techniques, Miller’s renditions of local architecture, like the Key Bridge and the Long Railroad Bridge will be on display through February 2. Tonight’s reception is from 6 to 8 p.m. Free.

SO SAY WE ALL: Humans, Cylons, put aside your differences and come to Black Cat tonight for the debut of Cylon Happy Hour, where the Cat will play an episode of the acclaimed sci-fi show Battlestar Galactica (the reboot) every Friday. Tonight, they’re showing parts one and two of the miniseries. Free. Starts at 9 p.m. So say we all, my friends.

MAGFEST: Nerd Alert! Nerd Alert! MAGFest, the D.C. area’s Music and Gaming Festival, is taking place this weekend at the Gaylord Hotel at the National Harbor in Maryland. Come for the nerds, stay for the old-school arcade games. Weekend passes are $60, individual passes range from $20 to $40. Runs until Sunday. More info here.

COMEDY: “LYGO DC presents “Wake & Bacon,” a live, stand-up comedy show this Saturday from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Shaw’s Tavern (520 Florida Avenue NW). This week, Daylon Morrison features, with headliner Randy Syphax. The show is free with a suggested donation of $10, and reservations are free at www.lygodc.com.”

I AM DIVINE: Head to the Black Cat for the D.C. premiere of I Am Divine, a documentary about Baltimore drag legend and John Waters muse Divine. Afterwards, the party will continue with an ’80s dance party featuring the DJ sounds of Summer camp. Doors at 9 p.m., $10 on the main stage.

FAREWELL SHOW: After eight years as a band together, local emo rockers Monument are playing their last show tonight at The Lab—an all-ages arts venue—in Alexandria, Va. Also on the bill are Monument side-project Shat Shorts, Foxing (from Missouri), Mike Bell and The Movies (from Pennsylvania), and D.C.’s The Fordists. Expect lots of high-fives, fist-pumps, and sing-a-longs. $8-$10 suggested donation. Starts at 6 p.m. The Lab is located at 1819 N. Quaker La., Alexandria, Va.

ERASERHEAD: Speaking of cult movies, David Lynch’s classic midnight movie, Eraserhead, is playing at E Street Cinema at midnight. Because if you don’t already have plans Saturday night, what better way to spend it than taking in a surreal, nightmarish, heady film by yourself in a darkened theater? I can think of nothing else. $11.50. Starts at midnight.

THREE KINGS: GALA Hispanic Theater in Columbia Heights will put on their traditional Three Kings celebration, complete with a procession featuring magic and live animals, and performances from local artists. Also, there will be gifts for every child! Free, begins at 1:30 p.m.

FREE MUSIC: Luce Unplugged—the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s free local concert series—returns in the new year with a performance and talk with local R&B artist Alison Carney. Free, starts at 1:30 p.m. More info here.
