If you thought you could use the Metro to get to wherever you need to go this weekend (while not wearing pants) and not expect any delays, well, dream on. All five Metro lines will be experiencing delays this weekend due to scheduled track work.
Beginning Friday at 10 p.m. and extending until close on Sunday, trains on the Red Line will run every 8 to 16 minutes, with trains between Shady Grove and Glenmont running every 16 minutes and trains between Shady Grove and Union Station running every 8 to10 minutes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Trains on the Green, Yellow, Blue, and Orange lines will run every 20 minutes this weekend.
This weekend’s scheduled track work is part of six-year, $5.5 billion dollar improvement plan to install new rails, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems, and more. One day, this will all pay off (hopefully).
You can find more info about this weekend’s scheduled track work here.
