Cate Le Bon is a Wales-bred songwriter who was discovered by Super Furry Animals leader Gruff Rhys. Her star has grown significantly since the release of her debut album in 2009 and her second album Cyrk in 2012. Le Bon quickly followed up Cyrk with last year’s Mug Museum. Le Bon’s tracks have a classic quality to them, pulling from many eras but most notably the ’60s. Le Bon’s voice has the fragile quality of Nico, but with hints of toughness underneath. “I Think I Knew” is the first single from Mug Museum and features singer Perfume Genius. The duet is pretty and pulls at the heartstrings. Perfume Genius’s voice complements Le Bon’s perfectly.

Cate Le Bon plays with Kevin Morby (of Woods) and Pree Wednesday night at DC9. Tickets are $10.
