This weekend, Mayor Vince Gray launched his reelection campaign at THEARC in Southeast D.C. During the event, Gray apologized for the “embarrassment” his 2010 campaign caused, saying that “I want to apologize for the pain that my campaign … caused, and I want to ask for your forgiveness for what happened.”
Before his speech, a video played that may or may not be his first TV ad, but is 100 percent for sure online. The commercial is your typical political ad: It shows Gray meeting with various D.C. residents—including Ben’s Chili Bowl co-owner Virginia Ali—in various iconic locations in the city’s various Wards. In the closing voiceover, Gray says “I’m proud to live in the District of Columbia, and I’m proud no matter where I may live in the city because it’s the place that people want to be.” It’s a short but sweet campaign ad, and its high point is definitely this glorious pound hug* with a constituent.

Editor’s note: While chests do indeed bump, what is happening may be best described as a pound hug.
