ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE: If there’s a zombie apocalypse, how long would you last? Well, definitely longer than if you didn’t take this How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse course at Knowledge Commons DC (C St. and New Jersey Ave. SE). $10, starts at 6 p.m.

THEATRE: All the tantalizing lust, passion, and sex of 50 Shades of Gray fly off the pages onto the stage at the Warner Theatre tonight during their production of 50 Shades! The Musical. Expect lots of singing about weird sex poses, I think. I’m not sure as I haven’t read the book. Regardless, probably wouldn’t recommend bringing your parents to this one. A significant other, definitely. Starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $32.50-$52.50.

MARIAN MCLAUGHLIN: Experimental folk artist Marian McLaughlin is on the verge of blowing up. Don’t believe me? Watch this video and read this profile on NPR’s All Songs Considered. Told ya. Anyway, she’s playing DC9 tonight with DeenaOH and Lies About. Starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $8.

COFFEE THROW-DOWN: Tonight at Big Bear Cafe the area’s best baristas will be putting their talents to the test in a “nerdy latte art competition.” It’ll kind of be like that movie Death Race 2000 except with nerdy baristas and coffee in lieu of hardened criminals and deadly homemade vehicles. Starts at 8:30 p.m. and is $5 if you wanna pour.
