A reminder to criminals out there: If you take a “selfie” with a stolen phone, you’re probably going to get caught.
A woman was approached by two suspects while walking on the 600 block of Third Street NE on January 9 then assaulted by one for her iPhone, police say. A few days later, the victim told WJLA, she saw a photo of one of the suspects in her iCloud.
“He took a ‘selfie’ on my phone not knowing that it would upload to my i-stream,” she told WJLA. “He had no idea what he doing. He was being a teenager. He was taking a selfie. Hashtag ‘youredumb.'”
Now, a Metropolitan Police Department public information officer confirmed, one suspect has been arrested. Detective iPhone wins again.
