You can’t keep Marion Barry down. The Ward 8 Councilmember and mayor-for-life was released from Howard University Hospital today. Barry has been hospitalized due to undisclosed health concerns since January 11.
Barry’s spokeswoman, LaToya Foster, tells DCist that he was released today, but did not specify what the former four-term mayor was hospitalized for, only saying that she’ll have “more details available shortly.” But it’s not a secret the 77-year-old Barry has suffered from numerous health concerns in recent years. In 2009, Barry underwent a kidney transplant. He also suffers from diabetes. Although Foster has not said what Barry was hospitalized for, multiple reports say he had a blood infection.
