FILM: The Embassy of the Czech Republic and Bistro Bohem (600 Florida Avenue NW) launch the third season of their popular beer and film series with the 1932 comedy Anton Špelec, Sharp-Shooter, about an instrument maker hoping to win his town’s sharp-shooting medal. Director Martin Frič made over 85 features and was best known for his comedies, but he met a sad end, killing himself in 1968 after the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. Bistro Bohem’s series runs all year on the third Tuesday of every month. Screenings include a free beer and will be introduced by a representative from the Embassy of the Czech Republic. 7 p.m. – Pat Padua
FOOD & DRINK: Attend a Greek Cooking Class with cookbook author Aglaia Kremezi and head chef Michael Costa at Zaytinya (701 9th Street NW) tonight. During the two hour class you’ll learn how to make three Greek recipes: Pasparaki (Greek style scrambled eggs with preserved pork), Greek Style Pork Terrine (terrine made from the head and trotters that have been cooked gently with bitter orange and lemon), and Tiganya (pork sautéed in olive oil with wine and oregano).
