From the people behind the very popular Walk Score comes a new ranking of public transit in the U.S.
Washington, D.C. was given a Transit Score of 70, making it the fourth best city in America for public transit. The city “has excellent public transportation and about 139 bus, 2 rail and 5 subway lines,” the site says, and “about 62 car shares from RelayRides, Zipcar and Hertz On Demand.” Car2Go, which has 400 smart vehicles in the city, isn’t included in this. Also not included it the ranking is the performance of Metro or other transit modes.
Walk Score says it calculated a Transit Score for 316 cities and almost 7,000 neighborhoods. New York, San Francisco and Boston all came in ahead of D.C.
And yes, they called us a “southern” city. Deal with it.
