Starting February 11, The Coupe—Columbia Heights’ 24/7 diner, coffee shop, and bar—will no longer be open 24/7.

PoPville first reported that the popular 11th Street NW spot will soon stop operating 24 hours a day, and Maxwell Hessman, The Coupe’s general manager, confirmed it to DCist. “We’re working on making The Coupe a little more focused,” he says. On Tuesday, February 11 at midnight, The Coupe will close its doors for the first time and reopen the next morning for their new hours. Those new hours will be 6 a.m. to midnight from Sunday to Thursday, and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays,

But nixing their 24 hour service isn’t the only thing changing for The Coupe. Hessman says that the bar will become a wine bar, focusing on an enhanced wine selection, rather than trying to cover wine, craft beer, and cocktails. Why wine? “The name is a little French, so we thought wine would be appropriate,” Hessman says.
