To mark the passing of legendary folk singer Pete Seeger—who died on Monday at the age of 94—fans have organized a singalong at the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza tomorrow afternoon.

According to a Facebook event, the gathering will commence at 4 p.m. and last for an hour and a half. Fans are encourage to bring guitars, banjos, and any other instrument to sing some of Seeger’s classics, like “If I Had a Hammer” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” (Organizers also list “This Land is Your Land,” which is in fact a Woody Guthrie tune Seeger famously sang it in the past.)

All the info about the event is below:

Come out in the (relatively) warm weather to celebrate the life of Pete Seeger and make some folk music outside for the masses in Columbia Heights. We’ll gather in the plaza just north of the Metro.

Bring your voices, your guitars, your banjos, and anything else you’d like to contribute. We’ll pick and strum and sing the classics (This Land is Your Land, If I Had a Hammer, Where Have All the Flowers Gone) and will sing others depending on the inclinations of the group. Anything goes, really.

Please make suggestions in the comments below, and we’ll put together a printable lyrics and chords sheet that we will make available on Friday.

The more the merrier. No previous musical talent or experience required–just an appreciation for the great man who lives on through all of us.
