Liz Crenshaw — the TV reporter who has been looking out for D.C. area consumers for more than 30 years — will retire from NBC4 at the end of May.
“It’s been a great privilege and a pleasure to be a part of the NBC4 family for more than 30 years,” Crenshaw said in a memo sent out by WRC vice president of news Mike Goldrick. “My commitment to consumer reporting and looking out for the people of DC, Maryland and Virginia has been – not just a job – but a passion. Now it’s time for new explorations and time away from the camera. Of course leaving my NBC4 colleagues is sad. I have worked with some very special people. But, for me now I look forward with great excitement to what lies ahead – more time with my family – and new adventures.”
Crenshaw joined NBC4 in 1980 as an assignment editor and became part of the on-air team in 1983. It’s hard to imagine NBC4 without Crenshaw’s “Does It Really Do That?” and “Ask Liz” segments.
In the memo, Goldrick said “My commitment and our station’s commitment to continuing Liz’s legacy with strong consumer reporting will certainly continue.”
