After one of their employees was assaulted, Adams Morgan beer, bourbon, and BBQ spot Smoke and Barrel will host a benefit to help him cover medical bills.
According to a release, employee Marc Smith was “violently assaulted” on his way home from work, near the Prince George’s Plaza Metro station. To help him cover ensuing medical bills and time off from work, Smoke and Barrel will offer a special menu on Wednesday, February 12 downstairs—the Bottom of the Barrel to regulars—with 100 percent of proceeds going to Marc. Smoke and Barrel will also be offering pints of Flying Dog Doggiestyle Pale Ale and Lost Rhino Meridian Kolsch during the benefit.
Meanwhile, Meridian Pint—also owned by John Andrade —will hold a craft beer raffle this month to also help pay for Smith’s medical bills. Tickets for the raffle are $5, and the winner will get collection of large, rare bottles of craft beer. All proceeds will go to Smith’s recovery fund, and tickets can be purchased through Meridian Pint servers or from the upstairs bar throughout February. The drawing will take place on March 1.
Here’s to a speedy recovery.
