Pissed Jeans has made a career of raising the ghost of the Jesus Lizard while moving the genre of hardcore forward. Their noisy tracks caught the ear of Sub Pop, who have been releasing their records since 2007 and released their fourth album, Honeys, last March. Honeys like its predecessor King of Jeans smoothes some of the rough edges from their sound while becoming more and more accessible. Part of Pissed Jeans appeal is Matt Korvette’s sharp wit and biting humor. “Romanticize Me” is a mosh pit starter and has a classic hardcore appeal. The video featuring figure skater Braden Overett is just as funny and sarcastic as the track.

Pissed Jeans play with Purling Hiss and Priests tomorrow night at the Black Cat. Tickets are $15.
