Yesterday, the D.C. Fire Department was dispatched to a raging fire in the 1800 block of Lincoln Road NE, in Eckington.

Spokesman Tim Wilson says that firefighters were dispatched at 3:12 p.m. and the first unit responded within a minute to what was described as a “pretty significant fire.” Although D.C. FEMS still has a unit on the scene “just to make sure nothing surfaces again,” the fire, which reached two alarms, was largely under control at around 4:30 p.m. and was distinguished not long after. One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Wilson says the fire occurred in a commercial building that housed a trash disposal company.
