The first of these, which offer unique drinks inspired by art, will be at P.O.V at the W Hotel (515 15th Street NW) this evening. Mixologist Joe Ambrose will offer a cocktail inspired by Childe Hassam’s A North East Headland. 6:30-8:30 p.m.
THEATRE: Students from the Young Playwrights’ Theater (YPT), a group that “teaches playwriting in low-income schools around D.C.,” will perform a staged reading of their plays at Theater J (1529 16th Street NW) this evening. The evening begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the performance at 7 p.m., and concluding with a talkback with the student playwrights. Free.
VARIETY: Tuesdays with Funnie at The Brixton (901 U Street NW), continues this evening with Seed’s Speakeasy, an “alternative-soul music show that features some of DC’s finest musicians, hip-hop artists, and spoken word artists.” 7-10 p.m. Free.
HAPPY HOUR: Have a drink at Happy Hour with Hemingway at Bar Pilar (1833 14th Street NW) this evening, where author Philip Greene will be signing copies of his book To Have and Have Another: A Hemingway Inspired Cocktail Companion. The event will include rum tastings, light fare, and $5 drinks. 5-7 p.m.
FOOD & DRINK: Zaytinya (701 9th Street NW) and DC Brau are teaming up for a special beer dinner with brewery owners Brandon Skall and Jeff Hancock tonight. The five-course dinner will feature beer pairings, including limited release brews like the Exaltation Strong Ale and the Model Citizen American Cream Ale.
