D.C.’s beloved Snowy Owl — who was struck by a Metrobus and SUV in late January — has been transferred from D.C.’s first wildlife rehabilitation center to another facility.
According City Wildlife, the Snowy Owl is now at “a specialized raptor care center” they declined to name: “This unusual visitor to the D.C. area will receive continued medical care and start outdoor flight conditioning at the unnamed facility.”
“Upon discharge from City Wildlife, the Snowy Owl was eating robustly on its own and becoming more active very day, requiring larger caging capacity which City Wildlife does not currently have,” the center said. “Rodenticide test results are pending.”
Paula Goldberg, the new executive director of City Wildlife, told DCist they’ve experience a “flurry of donations” since taking in the Snowy Owl, but couldn’t provide an exact number.
The Snowy Owl, spotted around McPherson Square, was first treated by the National Zoo after being hit.
