BIKES: I hope you have your love to keep you warm, because DC Bike Party’s Sexual Wheeling Valentine-themed bike ride tonight is gonna be cold! Meet up at Dupont Circle at 7:30 p.m. in your warmest pink and red threads for a ride around town. The ride will end at Patty Boom Boom (1359 U Street NW), where you can dance until you get feeling back in your feet.
MUSIC: Take part in Flashband’s Music Discussion and Listening Party this evening at the Hillyer Art Gallery (5 Hillyer Place NW) with panelists Bob Boilen (NPR’s All Songs Considered), music journalist Marcus J. Moore, recording engineer and music producer Blaine Misner, and composer and musician Louis Weeks. 7-9:30 p.m. $25 (includes open bar).
DEBATE: Join the Kennedy Political Union for the 2014 DC Democratic Primary Mayoral Debate at American University (Katzen Arts Center, 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW) this evening. The candidates on hand will include Carlos Allen, Councilmember Muriel Bowser (Ward 4), Councilmember Jack Evans (Ward 2), Mayor Vincent C. Gray, Reta Jo Lewis, Councilmember Vincent B. Orange (At-Large), Andy Shallal, and Councilmember Tommy Wells (Ward 6). The event will be moderated by Tom Sherwood (NBC4 – WRC) while Matt Ackland (FOX5 – WTTG) and Sam Ford (ABC7 – WJLA) will make up the media panel. Get a ticket outside of the Abramson Recital Hall starting at 6:00 p.m., doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the event will start at 7 p.m.
CRAFTS: The National Museum of Women in the Arts (1250 New York Avenue NW) presents Wine, Twine and Valentine, a Valentine’s-themed craft night and happy hour. Drink vino, make “textile-inspired crafts,” and tour the museum’s collections. 5-8 p.m. $18-$20 (includes two glasses of wine and craft materials).
PHOTOGRAPHY: Exposed DC invites you to join them for their monthly meetup, which will be held at Right Proper Brewing Company (624 T Street NW) this evening. Come out “to talk anything and everything photography, including the upcoming Exposed 2014 Show.” 6 p.m.
BENEFIT: As we mentioned last week, Smoke and Barrel (2471 18th Street NW) is hosting a benefit this evening for their employee Marc Smith, who was recently assaulted on his way home from work. Proceeds from the event will help Smith with his medical bills and the income he’s lost from having to take time off from work. 5 p.m.
