Per usual, Metro will be doing some scheduled weekend track maintenance as part of its $5.5 billion investment “to install new rail, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems, and more.” This should come as no surprise as this happens pretty regularly, but in case it does, now you know. Adjust your travel plans accordingly or prepare to suffer from especially frustrating Metro service this weekend. Either way, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Here’s what will be affected:

  • Red Line:Starting Friday at 10 p.m. to Sunday at close, trains are running every 16 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont stations. Trains between the Van Ness and Silver Spring stations will run every 8 to 10 minutes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. only.
  • Orange Line: From 10 p.m. on Friday to close on Sunday, the Potomac Ave., Stadium-Armory, Minnesota Ave., and Deanwood stations will be closed. Free shuttle bus service replaces trains between the Eastern Market and Cheverly stations. Trains between the Vienna and Eastern Market stations and the New Carrolton and Cheverly stations will operate every 15 minutes. Metro suggest adding 45 minutes of travel time if you need to take the free shuttle bus service.
  • Blue Line: From 10 p.m. on Friday to close on Sunday, the Potomac Ave. and Stadium-Armory stations will be closed. Free shuttle bus services replaces trains between the Eastern Market and Benning Road stations. Trains between Franconia-Springfield and Eastern Market, as well as between Potomac Ave. and Stadium-Armory will operate every 15 minutes. Metro suggest adding 30 minutes of travel time if you need to take the free shuttle bus service.
  • Yellow Line: Hey, look! No service adjustments to the Yellow Line! Wahoo!
  • Green Line: Between the College Park and Branch Avenue stations, trains will run every 12 minutes from Saturday to Sunday. At the Greenbelt Station only, trains will arrive and depart every 20 to 25 minutes between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
