Courtney Barnett is an Australian singer-songwriter who comes off as a slacker, but her output is nothing of the sort. Last year she released The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas featuring both new songs and a re-release of her first EP. The new songs lead off the record and showcase a more polishd sound while the back half serves as a primer of where Barnett was before. Single “Avant Gardner” is one of the best tracks from 2013. It is a lackadaisical story about Barnett wanting to clean up her yard and then having a n asthmas attack. The song is filled with razor-sharp lyrics and the hilarious line about Barnett failure to smoke bongs.
