Update: It seems things are back to normal. Here’s an initial explanation from Comcast spokesperson Aimee Metrick.
There was an issue this afternoon that impacted some services for some customers in D.C. Our technicians were immediately alerted to the issue through our internal monitoring systems and immediately began working to restore service. All services were restored in under an hour. We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Metrick continued, “Our teams are still investigating the root cause. Our number one priority was on restoring service for our customers.”

If you’re reading this, you probably don’t use Comcast Xfinity. (Or you’re on your phone because you’re fancy.)
Parts of the city, including downtown D.C., are unable to take personality quizzes work right now because Internet service is down, as is cable.
A call to a Comcast representative was not immediately returned, so we don’t know how widespread the issue is. We’ll update when we know something.
Whatever it is, it’s big. Comcast guy didn’t a cause for the outage and said it was pretty big.
