After a letter carrier was assaulted and robbed in Northeast D.C., the U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible.

An unidentified Postal Service employee was delivering mail yesterday in the 100 block of Webster Street NE around 4 p.m. when “two suspects, wearing ski masks and brandishing guns, forced him into a vehicle.”

The suspects assaulted the letter carrier, who experienced minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital, received treatment, and was released last night.

The suspects are described as black males, approximately 20- to 30-years-old and weighing between 165 and 175 pounds, last seen driving a tan-colored, late 1980s to early 1990s model conversion van. Anyone with information may contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455.

The Metropolitan Police Department is also investigating.
