Brace yourselves, D.C.: Potholepalooza is coming.
The annual 30-day campaign to repair as many potholes in the city as possible will launch on March 20th. And the way the weather has treated us this winter, boy do we need it. Already this year, the District Department of Transportation says they’ve filled more than 9,000 potholes. Less than half that number were filled in January and February last year.
“The unusually cold winter coupled with the snow and temperature fluctuations have all taken a toll on our roads,” Mayor Gray said in a release. “Once the temperatures have stabilized, we can begin the repair work in earnest—and to complete the job we’re going to need residents to become actively involved with helping us identify where the potholes are located.”
Know of a pothole that needs to be filled? Here’s how to report it:
-Call 311.
-Visit 311.dc.gov.
-Tweet at DDOT (@DDOTDC).
-Email DDOT at potholepalooza@dc.gov.
-Visit the Potholepalooza Facebook page.
-Use the DC311 smartphone app.
Per usual, the Potholepalooza campaign aims to repair identified pothole locations within 48 hours of it being reported. Normal time is within 72 hours.
