PERTINENT INFORMATION ABOUT THE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL MARATHON

From WMATA, here’s what to know if you’re a Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathoner, or just planning to use Metrobuses:

Metrorail will open two hours early. The system opens at 5 a.m. tomorrow for the benefit of race participants. Remember to load enough fare value on your SmarTrip card for your entire roundtrip.

Use stations other than Franconia-Springfield or Greenbelt. Weekend construction will result in longer travel times at these stations. Use Huntington or Van Dorn St instead of Franconia-Springfield. Use College Park or New Carrollton instead of Greenbelt. More info

Bus service will be delayed and detoured throughout DC. Due to widespread road closures and traffic, all riders should transfer from bus to Metrorail at the first opportunity. On Saturday, bus operators will have special transfers that will allow you to transfer at no additional charge. For a complete overview of road closures and bus detours, visit this service advisory.
