D.C.’s The Fordists have been hard at work following up their 2011 debut full-length Watch You. The trio has recently been playing more shows in the area and, hopefully, a new record will drop soon. The Fordists create tightly wound post-punk tracks that share a history with D.C. bands past and present. Though the band gets stamped with the hardcore label, many of the tracks on Watch You feature a deep funky bass that adds to the crushing drums and guitars. “Late For The Zombie Apocalypse,” which has a vintage Dischord feel, starts and stops, and the band fills each minute with tension interlocking the guitar, drum and bass.

The Fordists play tonight with Greys at DC9. Tickets are $8.
