The body of Jesse Jones, the 83-year-old man who went missing last week, was found earlier today, authorities say.
A spokesperson with the Metropolitan Police Department confirms with DCist that they recovered the body of Jones earlier today at the 2800 block of South Capitol Street SW. The investigation is still underway and authorities could not say when they found him exactly or what the cause of death may have been.
Jones was last seen at the 1000 block of K Street NW, near the Busboys & Poets, last Tuesday and has not been seen since.
WJLA reports that Jones was the former Chief Warden of the D.C. Jail and was one of the first African American officials at the D.C. Department of Corrections. Police say Jones suffered from dementia and high blood pressure and was in need of medication when he disappeared.
