It may not feel like it, but warmer weather is coming. At least, I hope so, or else this year’s Bike to Work Day is certainly going to be a chilly affair for all those who register.

Despite the prolonged, miserable winter that has us all questioning if it will ever be warm again, Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association announced that this year’s Bike to Work Day will be on May 16. As such, registration to participate (which is free!) is now open (though I guess you could still bike to work even if you don’t register, but you should probably still do so, for data sake).

Along with the simple pleasures of just biking to work in (hopefully) warm weather, this year’s Bike to Work Day will feature a raffle for a new bike for those who register as well as 79 pit stops throughout the DMV area for cyclists to stop for refreshments (or maybe a jacket, if the weather does not get warmer).

Last year, more than 14,000 people in the D.C. area participated in Bike to Work Day. This year organizers hope to get even more, assuming May 16 is appropriately May-like weather. But who knows? Winter could be forever now.
