D.C.’s Paperhaus has been around since 2011, but with last year’s Lo Hi Lo EP, the band became a force to be reckoned with. While still playing regularly and running at a DIY venue out of the band’s house, aptly named Paperhaus, the band has a higher profile than most D.C. bands and it is well deserved. The four-piece mix dream-pop, psychedelia, indie rock and pop into a pleasant mix which can shift and turn from song to song. “Helicopters” from Lo Hi Lo is not only one of the band’s best songs, but one of their most assured tracks. The laid back dream-pop track has a hushed vocal and jangly guitars with an infectious hook.

Paperhaus plays with River City Extension and Sun Cycle as part of the WRGW Spring Showcase at Sixth and I Synagogue tomorrow night. Tickets are $10 adv and $12 at the door.
