D.C.’s inaugural Funk Parade—a celebration of U Street history, culture, and all things funk—is shaping to be quite the event. In addition to the day-long street festival and parade, there’s going to be a music festival at night.

Organizers of the Funk parade announced the initial lineup and an expanded list of venues hosting bands for the festival today. Additionally, the Parade is still seeking to raise funds to pay artist, dancers, and musicians participating in the parade and festival. In addition to their IndieGoGo campaign, which ends in five days, Local 16 is hosting a pig roast fundraiser on Saturday. Regardless of whether they hit their fundraising goals, the funk parade will hit U Street on Saturday, May 3. Get yer dancing shoes ready.
