Thanks to the oppressive winter that dumped more than two feet of snow on D.C. this year, D.C. Public Schools went over their allotted snow days. But the District is waiving two of those snow days and the school year will not be extended.
According to a release, officials applied for a waiver of the 180-day school year minimum after closings on March 3 and 24 caused District schools to go over their maximum allotted snow days. With the waiver granted, D.C. schools will not have to make up those two days and the school year will end on June 20 as planned.
Congratulations, kiddies, you get a (slightly) shorter school year this year. Soak it up.
