To mark the death of legendary entertainer Mickey Rooney, the National Portrait Gallery installed a photograph of the late actor with his frequent co-star Judy Garland in a special first-floor space today.

The photograph was taken in 1940 by Harold E. Edgerton and shows Garland and Rooney mid-song. The piece will remain on view indefinitely, according to the Gallery.

Rooney died this week at age 93 in California.
