The Dunes—the all ages mixed media venue in Columbia Heights—books some of the most eclectic shows in the city. Case in point: this past Saturday, local experimental electronic/post-punk duo Cavale had their record release show, with D.C. bands Pleasure Curses and Furniteur also playing. Rounding out the show was JoyCut, an electronic band on tour from Italy.
While the show went on without a hitch, JoyCut’s lead singer Pasco Pezzillo later discovered that his backpack was stolen. The contents of the backpack? About $7,500 worth of gear, including his passport and visa. Andrew Miller, a promoter for JoyCut on their current North American tour, writes in an email that, although the estimated value of the gear is about $7,500, “the value of the contents [will] always be much greater to Pasco than to anybody else.” Thus Miller and Pezzillo are offering a large cash reward for the return of the backpack.
Here’s a full rundown of what was in Pezzillo’s backpack, which is described as a blue North Face backpack:

Miller is asking for anyone that may have seen anything, or has any information to come forward, no questions asked. “Unless there was an international terrorist at the show on Saturday, the passports are going to be only of value to Pasco.” In addition to the gear, Miller says there’s a plethora of photos from their tour, a tour diary, and music on the computer and hard drives that “took years to accumulate.”
If anyone saw the backpack in question, or might have any information, Miller is asking that you contact him or Pezzillo directly at via email at ampevents@gmail.com or pasco17@hotmail.com.
