ART: This month’s Corcoran Uncorked is all about “what’s new, up-and-coming, and innovative” from the “Best & Brightest.” You can tour the gallery’s spring exhibitions and listen to live music performed by three up-and-coming local bands. But the highlight of the evening will be the performance art from student’s exhibiting in the NEXT at the Corcoran exhibition. Corcoran Gallery of Art (500 Seventeenth St. NW) 5-9 p.m. $12. Cash bar featuring cocktails prepared by Muse.

TALK: In “American Futures: A Conversation with James and Deborah Fallows on Travels to Small Town America,” Atlantic Editor in Chief James Bennet leads a discussion with James and Deborah Fallows as they share discoveries about the country and themselves from their “journeys from one small-town airport to the next.” Learn about the “dramatic economic, cultural, and social changes happening in small towns and cities” across the country. Sixth & I (600 I Street NW) 7-8 p.m. $15.

MUSIC: This week’s “Live Wednesdays” at the Anacostia Arts Center (1231 Good Hope Road SE) features Christylez Bacon, a Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist and multi-instrumentalist from Southeast D.C. “who multi-tasks between the West African djembe drum, acoustic guitar, and the human beat-box (oral percussion), all while continuing the oral tradition of storytelling through his lyrics.” 7:30 p.m. Free.

FUNDRAISER: The Petworth Community Market, Ward 4’s only farmer’s market, is now in its fourth season. To raise money to “make local food and products at the market accessible to all, regardless of income”, they are holding a fundraiser at Chez Billy’s (3815 Georgia Avenue NW) upstairs bar, featuring happy hour specials until 9:30 p.m., a silent auction, and door prizes. 6:30 -9:30 p.m. $15 at door.

STORIES: This month’s Story League competition features seven storytellers telling seven-minute “SAUCY” stories for a shot at a $150 cash prize. Busboys and Poets (2021 14th Street NW) 9-11 p.m. $12. Sold out online. A small number of cash tickets will be available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
