Friends of the National Zoo, an organized group of Zoo friends, is currently ramping up for ZooFari, its biggest fundraising event of the year.

Beyond the actual event on May 15, ZooFari features VIP packages, including, as the City Paper pointed out, a $6,000 Bao Bao tour. It also includes an online auction that offers an opportunity to paint with a naked mole rat for an estimated $400.

Join a Small Mammal House keeper from the National Zoo as you choose paint colors and assist the naked mole rats with painting! This behind-the-scenes experience is truly one-of-a-kind, and it makes a great gift for any animal lover! Take your art work home for an incredible keepsake. Experience is for no more than four people.

Sold! Here are some of the other items on the auction block that caught our eye.

  • A painting by an elephant ($850)
  • Artwork by a naked mole rat ($300)
  • Asian elephant bath experience ($500)
  • A charcoal portrait of Bao Bao ($175)
  • Lion training class ($1,000)
  • Tour of red panda facility, where our old friend Rusty currently resides ($2,000)
  • Sloth bear splatter art ($325)
