BBQ: The weather gods were actually on our side. The rain has disappeared just in time for the kickoff of Hill Country’s Backyard Barbecue on the National Building Museum (401 F Street NW) lawn. BBQ will be available on the NBM lawn Thursday through Sunday from 4-9 p.m. from now until Labor Day. Features live music, beer, cocktails, and of course, lots of BBQ.

DANCE: The 3rd Annual Transatlantic Urban Dance Festival is coming to a close, with only four events are left between now and Saturday. In one, watch the relationship of a French-Algerian couple unfold as they explore cultural identity in Moovance. Gallaudet University, Elstad Auditorium (800 Florida Avenue NE). 8 p.m. $15

COMEDY: Tonight is one of the few instances where the Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H Street NE) is not featuring live music. Instead, they are hosting an Underground Comedy Stand-Up Showcase. Six comedians will take the stage. 7:30 p.m. $10
