When tickets to SAVOR are so coveted that the city’s most extravagant beer event sells out in a matter of minutes, many craft beer fans around the region often feel like they are missing out. (Especially if they missed our ticket giveaway last week.) But fear not, craft beer fans, for this is SAVOR week, and some of the brewers who came early are holding some amazing events throughout the city.
While we only picked a handful to highlights, there is no shortage of events, and our good friends at DCBeer.com have a complete calendar along with profiles of every brewery participating in this week’s activities. A selection of their descriptions are below.

Each team will have one hour to mix up their cocktail, and customers have two hours to taste and vote on their favorite. The winning cocktail will be available for $5 throughout the rest of the night on the Terrace. There is no admission for this event and all beers will be priced individually by the glass and in 4 oz. pours.”
Thursday:
Capital Brews: The Beverage All of Washington Agrees On
S. Dillon Ripley Center
6:45-8:45 p.m.
“Break out the chilled pint glasses as we pop the cap on the sudsy story of beer in the nation’s capital. Brewing in the Washington area began in Alexandria in 1770, and was considered a staple of local commerce. A revival in local beers in 2011 brought a new generation of production brewers to D.C., and have made the area into a craft beer destination. Hear the story of the resurrection of local brewing with Bill Butcher of Port City Brewing and author and historian Garrett Peck. Enjoy a beer tasting along with a side of local history. Peck’s Capital Beer: A Heady History of Brewing in Washington, D.C. and Prohibition in Washington, D.C.: How Dry We Weren’t (The History Press) are available for signing.”
Tickets $30 members, $42 general admission.
