Via Hyattsville Police.Hyattsville City Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted and robbed a woman near the Prince George’s Plaza Metro station early Sunday morning.
According to Hyattsville police, the woman was walking home from the Price George’s Metro station at approximately 2:07 a.m. when a man approached her from behind with a knife. He reportedly took her behind a dumpster behind shops near the Metro, in the 3500 block of East-West Highway, demanded she give him her cellphone and wallet, and then sexually assaulted her. He then fled across the street and tried to hail a cab, but got into an altercation with the cab driver before fleeing on foot.
The man is described as dark-skinned with shoulder-length dreadlocks and was wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans. Police are asking anyone with information to call 301-985-5060.
And later last night, a man was stabbed on the Ballston station platform. According to a WMATA spokesperson, the incident occurred around 8:50 p.m., when a man was stabbed in his bicep and abdomen. Two men were taken into custody and one of them 52-year-old Jeffrey Kenneth Hicks of no fixed address, has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding.
The victim, a 28-year-old male was transported to a nearby hospital and as of this morning is in critical but stable condition. WMATA says that the incident started as a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical one. The investigation is ongoing.
