Although Metro recently announced that they’re going to make adjustments to their weekend track work schedule, thus making things a little less terrible for riders, we’ve still got a few months before those plans are implemented. For now, more track work that will inevitably mess up your weekend commute!

Anyway, here’s what’s going on this weekend. (Note: Metro is opening early Saturday, at 5 a.m., for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure).

Red Line

Trains every 10-15 minutes

Red Line trains will operate as follows from 10 p.m. Friday through closing Sunday:

  • Between Shady Grove and Glenmont: Every 15 minutes throughout the weekend.
  • Between Van Ness and NoMa-Gallaudet: Every 10-12 minutes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. only.

Work Performed: Crews will perform floating slab rehabilitation between Van Ness and Friendship Heights; fence and lighting installation between NoMa-Gallaudet and Rhode Island Avenue.

Orange Line

Trains every 24 minutes.

Work Performed: Crews will continue platform rehabilitation, grout pad replacement, and rail joint elimination between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly, along with fence and communications cable repair between East Falls Church and West Falls Church.

Green Line

Regular service EXCEPT during daytime hours at Greenbelt Station only.

On Saturday, Green Line trains will operate:

  • Between College Park and Branch Avenue at regular weekend intervals (every 12 minutes 9 a.m.-9 p.m.)
  • At Greenbelt Station only, trains will arrive and depart every 20-24 minutes between 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Regular weekend service on Sunday.

Work Performed: Crews will continue testing new 7000-series railcars.

Blue and Yellow Lines

No work performed this weekend. Zero. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Celebrate by riding the Blue and Yellow Lines all day, just because you can.
