With a little help from Al Roker and a lot of help from construction crews, the Washington Monument reopened this morning to the public.
It may be unwise to attempt to visit anytime soon. Thousands of online tickets have already been booked through June. And while the cracks are gone, the lines are back and are expected to be long. Indeed, the Post reports the line to tour the Monument today started forming at midnight. (Sixty percent of tickets are given out online, while the remaining are first-come, first-serve.) Online tickets can be reserved here.
The Monument was closed for 33 months while crews repaired cracks in the stones from an earthquake. Above are some photos of the damage.
