MARC says “trains are beginning to move at significantly reduced speeds. We still do not have an estimate for the first northbound departure from Union Station; we will continue to update the situation as information becomes available.”

Both Amtrak and MARC train service is suspended between D.C. and Baltimore as the evening commute is underway.
A man was fatally struck by a train in the 2000 block of Kenilworth Avenue in Capitol Heights, according to Prince George’s County Police. Circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated.
As of 4:20 p.m., MARC service on the Penn Line was suspended with no estimate for restoration. “For passengers on Train 424, which is still stopped between Washington and New Carrollton, we are working as quickly and safely as possible to make alternate arrangements to get you to your final destination,” a release states. Amtrak service is also suspended between Washington and Philadelphia. Delays are expected.
