It’s a good time to be a cinephile in D.C. Not only is Landmark opening two new locations—in NoMa and near to the 9:30 Club—but Angelika will be opening a location at Union Market in late 2015. In the meantime, Angelika announced they’re opening a pop-up theater at Union Market this summer.

Beginning June 13, Angelika will open up a “three screen micro cinema” that “will serve as the D.C. hub of Angelika’s signature mix of specialty film programming and unique events during the development of the permanent Angelika Film Center,” a release states. Angelika says that they converted a warehouse space at Union Market into intimate screening rooms, where they’ll show films this summer.

The four films programmed for the pop-up are Mike Myers’ directorial debut Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon (opening June 13), a 20th anniversary screening of Patrice Chéreau’s Queen Margot (opening June 13), the Brooklyn urban dance doc Flex is Kings (opening June 20), and Martin Provost’s Violette (opening June 27).

In addition to screening films, the Angelika pop-up will feature food and snacks curated by former Food Network executive Bruce Seidel and former Food Network chef Santos Loo. While the pop-up—located at 550 Penn Street NE—is only temporary, Angelika says “filmgoers can look forward to future Union Market dinner-and-a-movie promotions as well as other collaborative programs.”
