Potomac Video—one of the last bastions of video rental culture in D.C.—announced last month that they’d be closing their doors for good soon, and that day has finally come: Sunday, June 1, will be their last day of business.

The store announced it on their Facebook page, writing that their last day of sales will be on Sunday. If you want to go in and thank them for being around for so long, this weekend is your last chance to do so. If you’re looking for insanely cheap prices on movies, well, they’re clearing out the rest of their inventory with catalog DVDs at $1, catalog Blu-rays at $2, new DVDs at $3, new Blu-Rays at $4, TV/Miniseries at $1 per disc (max $4 per season), and VHS tapes for just $.25.

With Potomac Video closing, one video rental store remains in D.C.: Woodner Video Rental in Mt. Pleasant.

When I profiled the last days of the long-running area video rental store, which boasted 22 area locations at the height of its popularity, general manager Matt McNevin said that they’re still trying to figure out a way to keep the Potomac Video name alive, even if its physical presence is gone. There’s still a possibility that might happen, but for now, nothing is set in stone. Go pay your respects this weekend.
